Best For: Dyson Performance for 1/3 the Price
If you can’t stomach the Dyson price tag, get this. It is widely considered the best “Dupe” on the market.
- The Design: It looks almost identical to the Dyson.
- The Sound: Surprisingly, in some tests, it registers even slightly quieter (59 dB) than the Dyson.
- The Price: Usually around $140. It is a no-brainer.
3. The Budget Pick: Revlon Infrared Quiet
Best For: Under $50
If you just need a standard dryer that isn’t ear-piercing, this is the classic choice.
- The Tech: It uses infrared heat to dry hair from the inside out, meaning you don’t need the fan speed to be as high.
- The Sound: It’s not “Dyson Quiet,” but it has a lower rumble than a standard drugstore dryer.
Buying Guide: What is Ionic Tech?
Most quiet dryers also use Ionic Technology.
- This means the dryer shoots out negative ions to break down water molecules faster.
- Faster drying = Less time with the noise on.
The “Morning Conversation” Test With a standard Conair dryer (90 dB), I have to shout to be heard in the bathroom.
With the Dyson Supersonic, I can hold a conversation with my partner without raising my voice.
That drop in “pitch” (the screaming frequency) makes it feel 50% quieter than it actually is.
